In Reply To Z1 running up shipping?? posted by Shorebreak on January 31, 2008 at 04:07 PM

Message Ok, first of all, like I said, I have used Z1 in the past and had no problems with them. For the big stuff, FedEx is perfectly acceptable and the shipping rates are usually standard.
But for 4 exhaust gaskets measuring at most 4"x4"???? Give me a break. Even with a nice, neat cardboard box filled with 90% air, there is no possible way on Gods green earth that it could come out to 4lbs. It’s not possible. Just think about it in terms of a 5lb dumbbell....

The shocking part of this is you don't need a damn box to ship exhaust gaskets! If worse comes to worse, slip it in a damn manila envelope with a piece of cardboard, could be from leftover boxes, of which im sure there are tons, and send it USPS for at max $5. During my entire lifetime of mailing items, I have never had a letter lost by the USPS. They are quick, cheap, and deliver on Saturdays! WOW!!! What a shock. In fact, I just got a damn letter from Vietnam the other day. Even though I had no idea what the damn thing said, since it was addressed to the previous renters, I was proud that my tax dollars enabled it to get here. Let me assure you, I don't think the sender paid $15 to get it here either.

Second, I did call Z1 to inquire about this and got the damn run around on the POS automated system. It’s worse than calling directv looking for an actual person to talk to. Lets just say I tried a few menu options, got bounced around like a pinball, and promptly hung up the phone. What happened to the cheery fella that used to answer the phone on the 1st or second ring back in the day???

Third, I saw the shipping come up BEFORE I placed my order, which is exactly why I cancelled it out of principle. I'd rather through some extra money down to a local vendor then blow it on inflated shipping costs.

The point of this rant is to call attention to these business practices. Z1 used to be a great startup with quick customer service and good prices. I'm sad to say that I don't see either of these attributes anymore. Perhaps this post will open some eyes and get some common sense back into the company.
